The inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman reached 3.2 per cent during July 2026 compared to the corresponding month of 2025, while the average inflation rate for the period from January to July of the current year stood at 2.9 per cent.
Data from the Consumer Price Index issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that the Food and Beverages group recorded the highest year-on-year increase among the major groups, rising by 7.3 per cent, followed by the Transport group with 6.5 per cent, then the Miscellaneous Goods and Services group with 5.3 per cent, the Restaurants and Hotels group with 3.6 per cent and the Furniture, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance group with 3.1 per cent. Prices for the Education group rose by 2.2 per cent, Health by 1.7 per cent; and the Culture and Recreation group by 0.4 per cent.
Meanwhile, prices for the Communications, Tobacco and Clothing and Footwear groups remained unchanged compared to July of the previous year, while the Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels group recorded a decline of 0.6 per cent.
At the governorate level, Al Dhahirah Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate across the Sultanate of Oman during July 2026, at 4.4 per cent, followed by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate at 3.7 per cent, then Muscat Governorate and Al Wusta Governorate at 3.4 per cent each, followed by Al Sharqiyah South Governorate and Musandam Governorate at 3.0 per cent each; and Al Buraimi Governorate at 2.8 per cent.
The inflation rate stood at 2.5 per cent in both Al Batinah North Governorate and Al Sharqiyah North Governorate, and 2.4 per cent in Al Batinah South Governorate, while Dhofar Governorate recorded the lowest inflation rate among the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, at 2.1 per cent. — ONA
